Celebrating 88 Years
|
Santiam Chapter, NSDAR, was initially called Arthur Middleton Chapter, NSDAR, when it was organized on February 12, 1936. An organization meeting was held at the Lebanon home of Organizing Regent Annette W. Cowgill. A new name, Santiam, was given to the chapter in 1942 in honor of the Santiam River and the Santiam band of the Kalapooia Indians whose traditional territory is between the Santiam forks. In the last 88 years, Santiam Chapter, NSDAR, members have come from many backgrounds; we are brought together by honoring our ancestry, pride in our country, and willingness to serve.
Santiam Chapter, NSDAR, is an active chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Oregon State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (OSSDAR). We welcome you to visit us at one of our meetings, from September through May. Special interest is paid to area history by inviting local speakers and taking field trips to interesting historical sites.
